Invisible Windshield Wiper – Does It Work?

Recently, an invisible wiper has become a very popular way to protect the windshield from rain. This is undoubtedly an interesting solution, but it is worth considering whether it will be suitable for every driver.

The invisible wiper is a preparation applied to the windshield, which, when applied to glass surfaces, creates a coating with high hydrophobic properties. Thanks to this, when it rains, water flows smoothly from the glass surface without using classic wipers. Sounds like the perfect solution? Using an invisible wiper has certain consequences that are worth knowing before deciding on the application.

First of all: the invisible wiper only works at speeds higher than 60 km/h. When driving around the city or in a traffic jam, water drops have no chance to flow because the air flow is too low. The drops group together and limit the field of vision.

Secondly: by changing the properties of the windshield surface, the invisible wiper limits the mobility of classic wipers, causing them to squeal and “jump” on the glass. This is because the windshield covered with an invisible wiper is too dry for classic blades.

Thirdly: many drivers complain that when driving at night, water droplets on the windshield surface concentrate light, causing glare from oncoming cars.

To avoid the previously mentioned consequences, it is recommended to apply invisible wipers to the side windows, mirrors and windshield, but only in those places that cannot be reached by traditional wipers, a wide selection of which is provided by Visee.
